Medical Acupuncture

Acupuncture entails the insertion of very thin needles under the skin surface or into muscles.  The needles are sterile, used only once and then discarded.  Though best known for its ability to reduce pain and accelerate healing from injuries, acupuncture is an effective modality for a wide variety of health conditions.

What Other Patients Have To Say

"I was due to have wrist surgery the following week so I decided to jump on board right away and give acupuncture try. It is such a relaxing atmosphere and I felt instant relief. I even cancelled my surgery and I'm happy to report that I have yet to have any issues 3 months later...I feel like a million bucks every time I see her."
Deidre K.

"I just wanted to let you know that since my last visit my neck has been amazing!  It hasn't felt this good in...  well, as long as I can remember.  And my back too!  It's all feeling really, really, good!

Stuart W.

“My labor only lasted 3 hours.  It was easy compared to my first pregnancy.  I told the nurse it was the acupuncture that made all the difference - and I'm convinced it was.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

You may feel some mild sensations or a slight muscle twitch, though most people find these to be minimal and often pleasant and relieving.  For especially sensitive folks, we can use tiny pediatric needles that produce little, if any sensation.

What should I wear?

This is very flexible.  If you prefer to keep your clothes on, loose fitting clothes are best.  Some people prefer to wear just their undergarments.  We carry full sheets so you can cover up.

Should I eat or drink before coming?

It's best to come in within a few hours of eating so you don't have an empty stomach.  It's also best to avoid a large meal immediately beforehand.  Keep caffeine to a minimum. Please abstain from alcoholic beverages prior to treatment.

How many sessions do I need to get results?

This varies between people, health conditions and re-aggravating factors.  Most patients achieve progress within the first 3 sessions.  We've noticed an average of approximately 10 treatments per person.  Some patients achieve resolution in 1-2 treatments (usually an acute situation).  Patients who have long term and complex conditions and re-aggravating factors may require more treatments and choose to invest in regular, ongoing sessions to improve and maintain health.

How will I feel after a treatment?

Most people feel calm and relaxed.  It is normal to feel a bit tired and/or sore for several hours.  Please plan for a moderate day and avoid strenuous activities after a treatment.  If you have any concerns after a treatment, please call us.

Is it safe?

Acupuncture is a very safe modality when practiced by a practitioner with extensive training.  Acupuncture licensees typically have between 2,000-3,000 hours of training.  We use only disposable, single-use needles.  Minor bruising is the most common, but infrequent side effect.

What is your cancellation policy?

To avoid a late cancellation fee of $50, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to change or cancel your appointment.  This charge is not a penalty, but is necessary to cover our clinic overhead and a portion of the therapist's time that was held aside for your appointment. This can be waived for severe weather or family health emergencies.

Do you bill insurance?

We can provide a super bill for you to seek reimbursement from your carrier. If you are in the military and might have acupuncture benefits or suffered an injury in an auto accident, please call to discuss.
